A film can change your life
I should know... there's been plenty of them that have
changed mine. Welcome to Kissing Fingertips, the place for reviews of lesbian and bisexual film and television.
My reviews are a personal mix of pure review, film and television
theory, pop culture, film history, gossip, production notes and
anything else that feels relevant at the time. I hope you find
what you're looking for.

Oublier Cheyenne (2006)
Ambitious without trying too hard, quietly soulful without being sentimental, and full of ideas that are about complex lesbian lives rather than just the fact of "being" a lesbian. It's exactly the sort of grown-up lesbian film I would love to see more of.
Feast of Love (2007)
Your ability to enjoy this film depends upon your willingness to immerse yourself in this emotional world and not be turned off by the film's shameless attempts to manipulate your emotions. There's some blink-and-you'll-miss-it lesbian action, but at least this mainstream treatise on love bothered to include some passion of the non-heterosexual variety.
Puccini For Beginners (2006)
This movie might have been funny except that I couldn't find anything about the main character to like or sympathise with. She doesn't deserve her happy ending, she deserves to be miserable, and much worse besides.
Filmed and then forgotten
Julie Johnson (2001)
Don't be surprised if you've never heard of this movie. It got kind of buried in the rubble of Courtney Love's career. Don't let her casting fool you though, this is no rockumentary. This is a thought-provoking look at a woman who just wants to use her brain to make a better life for herself, with yet another outstanding performance by indie film stalwart Lili Taylor.
