almost adults

Almost Adults feels like a bunch of well-meaning friends got together to make a frothy film, but unfortunately it's really not very good. It feels tremendously dated, wooden, and the stereotypes abound. It's all been done before, more successfully, back in the early 90's, and really didn't need to be done again.

go fish

Every lesbian interested in the history of our movement and our cinema should see this film. I know that some of it leaves me shaking my head today, but there's so much that still speaks to our shared experience, and it's so rare to see a film that reminds us how far we have really come.

orange is the new black

This show is so addictive it is so not freaking funny. You just can’t beat prison shows for their diverse range of characters, including sexy heroines with fatal flaws. This show is flat out funny, moving, compelling and authentic, with a kind of twisted black humour in the face of life's horrors.

sugar rush 2

Sugar Rush 2 is that rare beast, a sequel that surpasses the original. It's moments like this I realise that I really love good television writing. Damn those Brits, having all the fun. Great writing, great music, great acting, great sex, just all-round great TV.

jamie and jessie are not together

There's an authenticity to this film that's easy to like. It's a queer film wearing its queerness proudly. However the authentic lesbian life is punctuated with oddly placed fake-as-anything musical numbers that seem to make no real contribution to progressing the story. They just serve to unbalance what could have been a sweet, interesting film.

lapsia ja aikuisia (producing adults)

This is a dark comedy with elements of screwball, that towards the end becomes just that little bit serious to bring the love story to a satisfyingconclusion. It is a story for adults that shows adults acting like children, in that way we know we're all capable of in order to get our own way.
